5 out of 5 stars Awesome for a change   August 24, 2010
Karolyn Minaya (Bronx, NY United States)
This is an awesome way to stay fit. I feel that this game does better than a real personal trainer. It is fit personally to the player and you can use a number of fitness gadgets that you will otherwise let build dust. To me the best feauture is that it changes your workout everytime and also depending on your answers to your question. Is a great way to stay motivated, especially beacuse, well it is a game.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent workout   August 23, 2010
Deborah K. Gooch (Houston, TX United States)
This is truly a wonderful exercise program. You do a preliminary test of exercises and she asked you how many and how hard it was. She asked your goals and then she sets up a regimen for you.
Throughout the program she will ask if it was too easy, worked you hard or you could not finish it so that she can adjust it next time.
This is not like Ea Active or Golds Gym where it automatically knows if your doing it or not. It is more or less on the honor system. But if you want a good, heart pumping workout it is fantastic.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty good   August 20, 2010

It is pretty good. You do not use the Wii Fit board (which makes it more economical). I did feel the burn, but not too much. I failed myself and stopped using it... no fault of the product.

This is exactly what i have been looking for and what i thought wii fit was going to be....fourth day and i am very sore!!! This really works you out. The workouts change everyday so you dont get bored> You can choose what you want to work out on or you can let the game decide. Wish i got this earlier!!

4 out of 5 stars It really works: Getting the most out of it   August 6, 2010

Hello world: I am a 41 year old male, and was skeptical (at first) about purchasing a program that "SEEMED" oriented towards females. However, I soon learned that my initial apprehension was unfounded - and this program works excellently for both. The exercises in this program can be utilized by either gender. In addition, Maya's "good looks" are actually motivating! What a cartoon! Anyway, this program is excellent, once you learn how to use it. I've been on the plan now for almost 1 month - and feel much better. I rotate between 30 or 45 minutes workouts - every day. I recently worked my way up to 45. But be careful to watch your heart rate, and keep it under 80% of your max. Otherwise, it can be dangerous.

Here is what I've noticed so far. Actually, I have lost (almost) no weight (so far) on this program. While this is a bit disappointing, I am convinced that I have increased my muscle mass (and burned some fat at the same time). Everyone keeps telling me I look better. I think some fat did come off of my rear and legs, while some muscle was added there - and all over. Thus it was a wash, with no significant weight gain or loss. This is my theory. However, I may be incorrect, and have lost a bit more weight than I realize. I find it a bit challenging to measure myself (which the program requires) - and my scale was malfunctioning during the first two weeks (unbeknown to me). So I may have lost a tiny bit more weight than I thought. It's hard to say.

I see muscles coming out of my body that have not been seen since I was a teenager. I've heard a lot of folks argue about which is better (Cardio or Resistance Trainging). Well guess what... this program uses both. So what's the argument?

I know I've brought out (or created) muscle too. And second, this is not only an aerobics program. I think the reason this program is so successful is because it incorporates many different types of exercise systems and philosophies into one program. It's not just aerobics. A few things that are helping me get the most out of this program are:

1- Pay very close attention to your form - being careful to do exactly as Maya does (to the best of your ability). Don't lose heart, as it does come over time. In my opinion, good form increases the benefits of the exercises exponentially, and should not be dismissed.

2- Listen to Maya (over and over) if you are new to programs like this. What she says may seem cheesy to veterans, but it needs to be heard again and again.

3- About a few weeks (or a month) into the program, I recommend finding and using your own music. It really changes your mindset, and increases your output. A lot of this stuff is in your mind, so you need to keep psyched up.

4- Don't be scared to kick up (or kick down) the difficulty as you see fit - even during the exercise. But be careful not to overdue the heart rate. For a while, I didn't think I could kick up the difficulty. But after changing the music, I realized it was in my head, and was able to move up. Overall, this is an amazing product... One time I over did it, and had to take two days off to recover.

While I've read that some feel this program is only for beginners, I can already say that is untrue, just by seeing how well these exercises can be adjusted. They are very customizable. You can add or subtract weight as you see fit. This is an absolutely incredible product that will change your life. Just listen to Maya and go! By the way, I strongly recommend getting the step and weights. It makes a difference. And some constant soreness for the first few weeks is a good thing - not bad. But don't over do it. Also, workout on a padded mat. I recommend wearing sneakers (with gells) to minimize impact to the knees.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NEXT VERSION: It's sometimes hard to choose the difficulty levels (IE: My hand shakes when selecting, and I sometimes choose a harder difficulty level, when I really wanted an easier one, or the same one). I also wish there were more NATURE ORIENTED background environments to choose from - sooner. I think it shouldn't take so long to activate them. Your music options need some serious expansion too. Please give people more musical options - up front. Of course, you may disagree. Just wanted to mention it.
