5 out of 5 stars Okami Wii   March 8, 2010

This is absolutely one of the coolest games since Zelda Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy VII.Great art great controls and Great bosses.Wish more people would buy so they would make a sequel.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Fun   March 3, 2010

This game is beautiful, incredibly atmospheric and fun. It plays like Zelda, but with a neat paintbrush control that is better on the wii than ps2. The paintbrush control is sometimes finnicky but normally works pretty well. The graphics aren't Nintendo quality, but they are incredibly stylized and fun. The story is long, and there are many interesting side quests and NPCs. All in all, the game shows an amount of care and polish that few third party wii games receive.

2 out of 5 stars Beautiful, well-intentioned game. But then there's the Konohana Shuffle.   February 23, 2010

I was so so SO excited to try this game, with high hopes that it would be similar to Zelda. The graphics are very pretty and the music is kind of soothing (it actually put my friend to sleep, which could also be a problem to some) but the wiimote accuracy is absolutely terrible. The game requires you to draw certain figures or patterns on the screen at some points and you Can Not move on until you do so. In particular, I'm referring to a point early on in the game referred to as the Konohana Shuffle in which you are required to draw circles around tree blossoms... I don't care how many times you draw a circle around those blossoms, the game doesn't recognize them and you have to sit through a 90 second cut scene to try again. Want to save and come back later? Nope! You can't. You have to power off your system entirely mid-game if you want to quit because there is no way to exit otherwise. I have spent two hours on this!! Since this challenge was so early in gameplay (I'm talking a few hours here), I'm not invested in the game enough to continue. What a disappointment. :-(

1 out of 5 stars Okami screws the pooch!   February 11, 2010

I love cel-shading but Okami has more than that in the game to add to it's visual effects that I found annoying.

Okami has a filter cover the screen that tries to make it look like the whole game is on a crumpled paper scroll but it just takes away from the graphics and makes the visuals look fuzzy and blurry. It's feels like I'm trying to see the game through silk or something. Not only that but living creatures and dialog window outlines are constantly wiggling (why are they wiggling?). This makes characters look rough and makes you dizzy. Also when you level up the wolf shines bright white, she's so bright she'll make your eyes water, I spent all my points right away just to douse her every time.

This game felt a little dated even on PS2. Why didn't they add any voices to the characters? The written text bubbles have annoying screechy sounds to accompany them that repel you from Okami's entertaining story.

It's a good Idea to port this game to other systems. It should have more fans but I feel this is too late in the games life and while it uses the sensor well on the Wiimote to paint, the waggling they used in combat is badly done. If you don't have epilepsy, love Zelda games, and never owned a PS2 I say pick up Okami-it's only $20 bucks right now.

5 out of 5 stars MEISAKU!   February 11, 2010

OKAMI is a masterpiece indeed!

This is one of the very few games I coveted for years but could not play because it is not available for PC. Thanks to my wife's ...Santa List, once there was a Wii in the house this was one of the first three games I ordered. And my expectations were met in every way.

The first thing that grabs you are the graphics. If, like me, you are accustomed to the detailed graphics of most PC games, Wii games seem much more simplistic. Nevertheless, the colors and artwork of OKAMI are just mesmerizing! I am a great fan of cRPGs but this was the first time I relaxed playing one.

This is an old-school cRPG, so there is no voice-acting. Nevertheless, this hardly has any impact on immersion. Playing OKAMI is like being a Japanese fairytale - taking place in a HUGE varied world. Forests and beaches, dungeons and villages, there is no limit in the horizon.

The sounds are soothing, the imagery magical and the gameplay ingeniously incorporating the Wii-Remote movements.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
